Inspired by Picasso, Modigliani, Klimt, and the Art Nouveau movement, Gina's unusual painting style is a whimsical, colorful combination of geometric abstraction, and spontaneous gesture painting.
Gina believes in imagination. Sincere creation. Deep feeling. Exploration. Breaking the rules. Taking risks. Pure passion. Going against the grain. Following the path less traveled. Being bohemian. Chasing dreams.
By way of her unusual painting style, Jrel strives to push beyond the realism which the eye sees; an artistic quest for individuality. She strives to paint - not what she sees - but the feelings she gets from what she sees.
A painter for 29 years, Jrel earned her B.F.A. in illustration and design from the Kansas City Art Institute.
She has claimed many awards and titles with her work (but regards that with little importance.) Her work has been displayed in Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, St. George, Kayenta, Springdale, Cedar City, Salt Lake City, and at the National Stationery Show in New York City. Her murals and paintings accent walls and ceilings throughout the southwestern United States. Her artwork has been licensed for use by corporations throughout the country. She is both honored and humbled to have her fine art a part of many private collections worldwide.
However, Jrel remains an artist not motivated by the sale or her artwork, but is driven by the pure and simple passion for creativity.
Jrel's two-story, bohemian, warehouse painting studio, The Loft, is located in St. George, Utah, and is open for the public visitors. She resides in the quiet volcano country of Veyo, Utah with her two dogs, Joker and Bane.
