Lloyd was born and raised in Wichita Kansas. After graduation from high school Lloyd took a turn in the typical path of life and became a professional cyclist. After retiring from cycling Lloyd moved to Salt Lake City where he graduated from the University of Utah with a masters in urban planning and environmental planning.Since he can remember Lloyd says that he has always had an eye for different forms of design including architecture, sculpture, and interior design which is what he currently does with his partner in their studio. Lloyd says that he has always appreciated art but that he never pursued it as a form of creativity until a couple years ago when he wanted to paint something to soften up the harsh brick walls of his office. Since then Lloyd has found himself making time to explore his creativity on canvas.
Lloyd says that being self-taught has allowed him to be “unhindered” and has given him the opportunity to find his own nitch and style. Experimenting with a number of different mediums and subject matters, Lloyd says that his preference is large acrylic abstract pieces. He says he loves the creativity of abstract painting and the fact that it is open to interpretation and gives people the freedom to explore the artwork and assign their own meaning to the piece.
